Framed Diamond Painting: Pre-Framed or Frame It Yourself

A framed diamond painting is the finished look most people picture when they start a kit: sparkling canvas, clean edges, ready for the wall. This guide compares buying art that is already framed with framing your own piece, and shows which route suits your time, budget and wall space. We sell diamond painting kits and wooden frames, so you can pick a design, finish it, and display it in a frame that fits.

Why framing changes the look

A diamond painting looks good on the table and better on a wall. A frame adds a clean border, hides uneven edges and gives the piece weight, so it reads as art rather than a craft project. Framing also keeps the canvas flat and protects the edges from knocks and dust.

Our kits use 5D full drill designs on a soft velvet canvas with resin drills of about 2.5 mm and at least 2 colors of AB drills. That shimmer is what makes a framed piece catch the light, and it shows well in a plain wooden frame that lets the picture do the talking.

Pre-framed or frame it yourself

Buying art that arrives already framed is quick, but the choice is smaller. Framing your own piece lets you choose the design first and the frame second. Here is how the two routes compare.

Factor Ready-framed art Your kit plus a frame
Time Hang it straight away Hours to place the drills, then minutes to frame
Choice Limited designs and sizes Any kit, then a frame in the matching size
Personal touch Someone else made it You made it, which is the point for most people
Shipping Bulky and heavy Kit and frame ship free worldwide with tracking
Custom photo Rarely possible Yes, with our custom kit

For most of our customers the second route wins, because the satisfaction comes from finishing the painting yourself. If you want a gift ready to hang, finish the painting, add a frame and it is done.

Choosing the right frame size

Our wooden frames for diamond painting kits come in 20 sizes, from 20 x 25 cm up to 60 x 80 cm. They include popular kit sizes such as 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm, 45 x 60 cm and 60 x 80 cm, plus square sizes of 30 x 30, 40 x 40, 50 x 50 and 60 x 60 cm.

Wooden frame sizes matched to diamond painting kit sizes

  • Match the frame to your kit size. A 30 x 40 cm kit goes in a 30 x 40 cm frame.
  • Check the kit listing. The canvas size is shown on every kit page before you buy.
  • Not sure? Email help@alldiamondpainting.com with your kit size and we will point you to the right one.
  • Plan the wall first. Measure the space and leave room around the frame so it does not feel crowded.

How to frame your own painting

Framing takes about as long as a cup of coffee. Work on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Finish and press. Go over the whole canvas with a roller so every drill sits firmly in the glue.
  2. Seal if you like. A clear sealer locks the drills in, which is helpful if the piece will hang without glass.
  3. Dry and dust off. Let the surface dry fully and brush away loose dust.
  4. Center the canvas. Check the edges against the frame before you fix anything.
  5. Secure and hang. Fit the canvas into the frame and hang it on the wall or stand it on a shelf.

Where framed diamond art works best

A framed piece fits almost anywhere. These spots work well:

  • Above a bed or sofa. A 40 x 50 cm or 60 x 80 cm frame gives a calm focal point.
  • Hallways and landings. A run of three small frames in the same size looks tidy.
  • Home offices and studios. Animals and flowers add color without clutter.
  • Shelves and desks. Smaller frames can stand up on a shelf or a mantel.

Keeping a framed piece looking sharp

Hang it away from direct sun and damp, since strong light can fade printed symbols and glue over a long time. Dust it gently with a soft dry brush, and avoid sprays or wet cloths on the drills. If you choose to seal the surface first, you get extra grip on every drill and a little more shine.

Budget matters too. Buying a kit and a frame separately lets you spread the cost, and you keep the pleasure of building the picture yourself. Start with the size you can fit on your wall, then add the frame in the same size at checkout.

Framed pieces as gifts

A finished, framed diamond painting makes a gift that looks complete the moment it is unwrapped. Make it yourself and add a frame, or send the kit and frame together so the recipient can enjoy both the making and the display. For something truly personal, our custom kit turns a favorite photo into a canvas, with a free design preview before printing.
